Dear list owner,

I've been a subscriber for a couple weeks now. This is the second time the
digest has been empty (cf. Vol 126, Issue 24). I'd like to take this
opportunity to ask a couple questions. I'm trying to get into the swing of
things and contribute to emacs long-term. It's been years since I've been
active on a mailing list, so maybe things have changed in the meantime,
but I've never seen these two behaviors:

1. Why are empty digests sent out?
2. Why isn't there an option for a once-a-day digest?

Thanks in advance.

Good questions. Either it's a property of the configuration of this
particular mailing-list, or it's due to the mailing-list manager we use.

Your headers claim you're using GNU Mailman 2.1.14. (Current is
2.1.18, but probably gu.org won't get hacked due to Mailman if you
fail to upgrade.) AFAIK Mailman doesn't send empty digests. It's
possible that your MUA doesn't know how to handle the digests Mailman
sends properly.

As far as the frequency of digests, that is a configuration option.

Please discuss this with the gnu.org admins (if you care that much),
and if it seems like there is a bug or otherwise undesireable behavior
in GNU Mailman itself, direct questions to mailman-users@python.org.

Steve
