Subject: Backporting commit b40a7056e53afd9d4ffdac03fd7b1b0fabb2a85d to support Apple Silicon (AMD64)

Hi,

Are there any objections to backporting the one-line change
b40a7056e53afd9d4ffdac03fd7b1b0fabb2a85d to the release branch? It
doesn't touch any Emacs code, but just allows configure to proceed on
Apple Silicon (or other ARM-64) machines.
