FYI - Bookmark+ gives you related features. http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/BookmarkPlus You can jump among bookmarks that each restore an Emacs configuration: buffers, windows, frames, variable values, etc. IOW, you can save and selectively restore various kinds of Emacs state.
