Hi,

not that I know, but you may operate on columns:

  M-x apropos-command RET rectangle RET

  (info "(emacs) Rectangles")

M-x column-marker-1 RET 
(or 2 or 3, you can mark up to three columns).

C-u M-x column-marker-1 RET  to disable it.

Just FYI, column-marker isn't part of the GNU distribution.  It looks
like you can get it
[here](http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/column-marker.el).
