Good news for anyone using sudoedit with Emacs: sudo 1.7.4 will
preserve prefixes, by using mkstemps rather than mkstemp to generate
the temporary filename. Intrepid Emacs and sudo users may wish to test
1.7.4beta1.

I asked for this improvement; much kudos to the maintainer, Todd
Miller, for making it so quickly, and to his employer for paying him
to work on free software.
