Agreed. But the question still stands: are there many current compilers who benefit from register declarations, and if so, it is enough of an improvement to make a difference? On the computers I use, there's not that much difference even between optimized and non-optimized Emacs builds (with GCC 3.X and 4.X). =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Juanma
