Hi,

I keep a diary file. All worked perfectly up to now.
When I open the diary file I get these first lines in my
emacs diary buffer.

-

When I start a second emacs and open my diary file then
the diary buffer looks ok. So it seems that the
displaying of the diary buffer is somehow broken in my
first emacs. Can anyone explain that and suggest a
solution?

Best wishes

Some editors write a mark into Unicode encoded files to mark them as
UTF-8, UTF-16, right-to-left, etc. Position the cursor on them and
type: C-u x =!

Check also the modeline what encoding it displays and see what the
differences in *Messages* are!
