Oops; didn't notice it. I've reverted the patch, but that one should
definitely have a joke.

Agreed. But I cannot compose one, even a stupid one :-(
Is it possible to tell a whole HELLO story just by emojis? And where is
the Emacs emoji :-) We shall propose!
Best regards, Michael.

Nice! "Hello, world".
I prefer the second version. The first alternative, I read as "Hello, cow".

It looks nice really, and I see it is buffalo. But OK, something to
swallow. Good for websites and propaganda. Gnu is type of antelope and
is not really large as cow, it is kind of smaller then a donkey.
Buffalo would be offended if it would be represented by gnu, but gnu
should not be if represented by buffalo.

I have rarely seen emojis -- they appear as diamonds in my Emacs on a
tty -- but my understanding is that it isn't feasible for us to define
our own. So I think there is no way to make a GNU emoji, and no way to
tell a story about GNU with emojis.
Is it possible to express the idea of "Hello" with emojis?

FYI, the Unicode Consortium has been accepting emoji proposals [1]. You
can submit a proposal about GNU to them.

They have accepted so many absurd proposals, surely a GNU one wouldn’t harm. They added Flamingo, Sloth, Otter, Orangutan in 2019. Maybe FSF people can propose one that tells FSF and GNU stories?

If weʼre going to propose a GNU, surely we should propose a Saint
iGNUcious as well?

If someone wants to do this, please write to me off the list.
Please first check what is actually required, to make sure it
isn't so much that you would give up instead.

Is it possible to draw an emoji that distinguishes Saint iGNUcius from
a generic saint? I have no skill at drawing, so I would hesitate
to declare it is impossible. But I doubt it is possible.
