But you don't need to stick to this. Athena is always in X11 -- although not the best choice. You can always ask configure to work --with- whatever you prefer. When it's not in the system it won't be found and configure will fall back to what's there. If you've once succeeded to install a usable version you can try to configure and compile another one with another GUI and start it as "src/emacs."
