Is the init file .gnu-emacs a new one? If yes, since when?

I ask because when I start a new test installation of emacs 23.2 I get
an error message regarding .gnu-emacs. If I start the old emacs 21.3.1 I
get no error message. Both versions are Gnu emacs versions.

Regards
Burkhard

I've never heard of it, and it isn't referenced by anything in the lisp
directories of the 23.2 distribution. I'm guessing you spelled it
wrong, but my crystal ball may just be having fun at my expense.

There's probably more information about what's wrong in the text of the
error message.

No, now I've seen, it's not emacs, it's the SuSE version of the .emacs
file which calls .gnu-emacs. Sorry!

I will investigate the other problems later.

Thanks!
