I am shocked and apalled that people even think about mating emacs with OO. Blasphemy!!
I am also surprised that nobody remembers Texmacs. Texmacs is great and what emacs should've been "out of the box" years ago. I believe it uses some sort of a stripped-down
TeX system - the whole texmacs package is about 20mb, and is _standalone_.
Also, mating emacs with OO will add fragmentation to community - people will be forking their own emacsen cause they want
to keep it lean and mean.
cheers!
