More important, Emacsen built from the bzr repo are not going to go
away. People are going to be making the transition over a period of
*years*, not months. Probably only developers are really interested
in this variable, but you just never know what 3rd parties are going
to put in their packages or .emacs.
Continuity is a good thing.
