Hi,

I have one bug report in helm about package.el:
https://github.com/emacs-helm/helm/issues/676

I think the problem comes from this line in the generated autoload file
in all the *-autoloads.el files:

(add-to-list 'load-path (or (file-name-directory #$) (car load-path)))

The error comes from (file-name-directory nil)

Can you clarify what is (file-name-directory #$)
                                             ^^
I didn't find documentation about this syntax.

Manual:

    the `#$' construct ... stands for "the name of this
    file, as a string".

Ah! Yes indeed it got compiled.

Dunno for now, I have installed helm as a new user on my system, I have
upgraded it two times since then and the autoload file have never been
compiled.
Maybe the user have compiled the file himself manually?

FWIW, even more mysteriously, it's impossible for me to compile this
file, because it is created with a

    no-byte-compile: t

declaration in its file local variables section.
