I see the same thing on Xubuntu. I think it's a bug. Emacs is capable of distinguishing M-left and M-right in both the Terminal and GUI. It should do it the same way in both. It's odd that the problem occurs in GUI where it's easier for Emacs to distinguish the keys from each other. BR, Robert Thorpe
