Can a defun be written to handle multiple definitions, say by
`numbering' them ... signaling a `multiple definition error' ... asking
the hacker, `which one?' and compiling it?
Please forgive my naivete.

Hi Sean,
probably it's possible, as fairly all logical operations seem possible
with computers.
AFAIU we have that somehow with options while compiling the C-sources.
Do you have a precise case in mind where you need such things?
Andreas
