It is correct Emacs Lisp syntax but most likely the behaviour is not
what you want. I believe you want this:


    (add-hook 'c-mode-common-hook
              (lambda ()
                (hs-minor-mode 1)
                (linum-mode 1)
                (local-set-key [(control return)] 
                               'semantic-ia-complete-symbol-menu)))
