It seems that the DDOS attack is over (see https://sourcehut.org/), do
you plan to revert these changes?  I don't know what the background was,
but if there was some urgent change, you could have also just pushed the
changes directly to elpa.git.

No, I don't plan to reverse it. This coincided with their downtime but
is not due to it. I have had lots of nigling issues with SourceHut and I
do not want to use it anymore.
