I forgot to mention that the keymap I'm using is a modified us.map in which I've changed Caps_Lock to send Control. As for X, here's the relevant parts of XF86Config: Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" Option "XkbModel" "hp2505" Option "XkbLayout" "en_US" Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:nocaps" I'm using hp2505 since it seems to work well with my Dell Inspiron 8500 notebook. -- mdi
