Hi Sharon,

Emacs is not rejecting init.el, it's just warning you.  If you don't
want to see the warning anymore you can drop this snippet in there:

(eval-after-load "warnings"
  ;; shut up, emacs!
  '(setq display-warning-minimum-level :error))
