how can i change default-major-mode to text-mode. i write (setq
default-major-mode 'text-mode) to /root/.emacs, but when after start
emacs, it still is lisp-interaction. the version of emacs is 22.2

You can set the major mode to use for the initial `*scratch*' buffer
by frobbing the customizable variable `initial-major-mode'.

That's normal if you're in the *scratch* buffer. If you do C-x C-f and 
then supply a file name without any extension (say "junk") then that new 
buffer will be (Text) instead of (Fundamental). If you name the new 
empty file "junk.lsp" then the mode will be (Lisp) instead of (Lisp 
Interactive). The buffers that are generated automatically by Emacs are 
special and are opened in the appropriate mode.

p.s. You can set things like this through Options > Customize Emacs.

(setq initial-major-mode 'text-mode)
