Do C-u M-x rgrep and enter the same parameters. When Emacs displays the command to be executed on the minibuffer, insert an extra space between some of the first parameters. I have no idea of what's going on, because if the pipe is not used the command line for `find' is similar on length and the problem doesn't happen.
