I'm on Gnus, and what I see is: a goofy line "cut here ... start" - and, the "highlight": a colored background. I don't think that increases readability, to be honest (on the contrary). I thought there might be something more - like - a predefined shortcut to push it onto the kill ring, or something - but just for highlight, my take is that it just looks goofy.
