Dired is put off by my more fancy wildcards. find-file on the other
hand can deal with it and it is mentioned in the manual.
(dired "/etc/rc?.d/*fetchm*" nil)
Reading directory /etc/rc?.d/*fetchm*...
dired-readin-insert: Directory /etc/rc?.d/*fetchm* inaccessible or nonexistent
$ echo /etc/rc?.d/*fetchm*
/etc/rc0.d/K15fetchmail /etc/rc1.d/K15fetchmail...
