They are not - with Hunspell every word is checked with every dictionary. So it is a way the opposite of detection. But it should work for you anyway. Try it if you want multiple dictionaries. `guess-language' says they can do it, my code could do it but was more of a proof-of-concept - well, at the state where I left it, maybe one could have taken it somewhere.
