In Emacs 29.4, there is no binding for ‘M-s t’. ‘M-s’ is bound to the
function ‘rmail-summary-search’.
For RMAIL mode, there is a menu item ‘Summary’ that provides six items
(and their corresponding key bindings) for filtering the summary. One
of them is ‘By Topic...’, with the key binding ‘C-M-t’. Once that menu
item has been selected and you have entered a topic string, then ‘n’ and
‘p’ work as expected, moving among the items in the filtered subject
list.
To revert to unfiltered summary list, select ‘All’ from the ‘Summary’
menu (or type ‘h’, as the menu describes).
When entering a major mode in Emacs that you are unfamiliar with, it is
useful to check the menus to see whether some commonly-used commands for
that mode have entries. If you use the mode frequently, then you can
use the menus to learn the keybindings from those commands.
