This sounds like a > contradiction to me. As Carsten wrote, RefTeX has been mainained outside of Emacs and seen releases independent of Emacs ever since. So there currently is no problem with the length of Emacs' release cycle. There would be a problem, however, if one followed your suggestion not ot release RefTeX independently of Emacs anymore. -- Ralf
