But nowadays I consider it > "standard" to do basic spell-checking on-the-fly, in any "text editing > area". Perhaps it's a standard. I, for one, use on-the-fly spelling checker a lot in Emacs, just never flyspell. If any spell-checker is enabled by default it should also actually work with all/most human languages and the way users expect. Otherwise it gets in the way. There are languages which can't be spell-checked with ispell-like programs and it seems that Emacs's ispell/flyspell is very much tied to those. For me Emacs' ispell/flyspell are pretty much useless. I use Voikko spell-checker for Finnish language and Enchant for others. Enchant is a shared library and a generic interface for many checker engines (including ispell, aspell, myspell etc.). --=-=-= Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJTpDlOAAoJEHGdadMkU5RQnKMP/jTiKnDpyebEBYCm3M1uC37f G/P0tmqSupge47InwjN8et+9ISgC96UGkPZzvmF04wn2HNP3Eb0eRGhw4ph1mtZp fCAr0NIvIb8qdr8sa+9hXVHc1S+tGuVeiqqsKuaKxZ9ZoHGom+qraBsi6By1KSvc lt4VPrpH2bAc88KXpx9QDMyvpvfTwvidcLoDNDq6h114fpfrdzzYepmpwqoxrKA0 X6fn7nCFHptd1dwtPo5GcaG/VndtiYJ+LHzl6ob5aAV3CBRi1tLYtA7Sn3uq5kxN Vfkxlq+69LlQo3RFV6eIp4jSvGg3j9UV0KwxxszFZSUv5uRDbpIBT3cowNpDpubR MTqZ3skpak0QqgB6UcGLbSm+MMp1LxugBhRHxVOS9X4sBBQR12Nqp+pX5XGJEQ/1 uDiGrPNohGP7330AohJfH5gbTb9fsy7lHhIE7QrwP2rUS6CQh8WzHrL9TN6oNfha GLL4DRrFvqbcMb53xDByPYvqZLGumzrAuPPoqaP/VkjDFA8ryvRgguK7SDHjQB64 MmjNMLvjebugs5R1ruPtjGFSXQ4aIWHjTV9ESj7XlQCxd372E+OYFZwEin4un1qw NyykAEIhF+RvgbBzsiWMZ1Rnq/1lO38uFk5LoHiaLgVAcCRA8avDu3nIuRUKbMu4 MLWX+NpLm8uwI/FwksY2 =lyjK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-=-=--
