In org-mode.el some regexps contains
A-Za-z
This prevent the use of national characters. Can this be cured in some
way, perhaps by using
[:alpha:]
instead?

AFAIK Org uses A-Za-z for special keywords/strings and [:alpha:]
otherwise. Can you be a bit more specific on the place where you
expect [:alpha:] to replace A-Za-z ?
