To reproduce:
Highlight some text and run *kill-ring-save* which ultimately calls
gui-backend-set-selection.
Kind regards,
Geoff

It is unclear from which commit of the Emacs Git repository was this
built. AFAIR, there were some problems in this area fixed lately on
master, so perhaps try with the current master branch.

FWIW, I can't reproduce the above crash on Debian GNU/Linux bookworm
with current master.
Geoff, could you show us the value of the variable
`emacs-repository-version'?
I'm also copying in Dima Kogan, the maintainer of the Debian packages on
secretsauce.net in case he has anything to add.

The package version contains the git hash: "dpkg -l emacs-snapshot" will
pinpoint the revision.

I can't see commit geff4a4f49a7 in the Emacs repository. Could it be
specific to secretsauce.net build?

And this is probably the fix:
commit 0dbd1dbe7d82331f3fda9a0d0b29373149fa7ce5

Date: Tue Oct 18 08:52:01 2022 +0800
Fix bug#58584
* src/xterm.c (x_handle_selection_monitor_event): Return if

(handle_one_xevent): In that case, drop the event and don't let
it reach GTK.

Yes, I already asked if that was it. But I think the mail didn't reach
its intended recipients.
