I believe the idea was to remove some NS-only features from the Emacs
distribution till we can offer them in a platform-independent way.
David, could you confirm that was the reason for your change?

Then at least the Mac OS specific docs(Appendix F Emacs and Mac OS /
GNUstep) should be updated accordingly.
