I know nothing about an automatic memory. Take a look at the extended window properties in the control center of KDE (sorry, I'm running KDE 4.x in German localization so I can't tell the exact names). Other than that I've been using the variable initial-frame-alist happily for years under various window managers. I set it using customize. Cheers, Stefan -- Stefan Kamphausen --- http://www.skamphausen.de a blessed +42 regexp of confusion (weapon in hand) You hit. The format string crumbles and turns to dust.
