After having seen how I could write interactive indentation highlighting
in wisp-mode in a few hours of hacking and a few dozen lines of code,¹ I
disagree with the implication here that the current way is a bad way to
get things done.

If you want to see how Emacs actually outshines other environments, you
need to look no further than the talk Lisp for Everyone — starting at
