This truncate you are talking about is breaking the line when it reaches
a specific column? if it is, you must try setting off the
auto-fill-mode:
M-x auto-fill-mode
,----[ C-h f get-buffer RET ]
| auto-fill-mode is an interactive compiled Lisp function in `simple'.
| (auto-fill-mode &optional ARG)

| Toggle Auto Fill mode.
| With arg, turn Auto Fill mode on if and only if arg is positive.
