John Wiegley complained about this yesterday, which I followed up to,
and I also submitted a bug-report, but they seem to have been lost in
the space-time continuum. Anyway, here's what I found.
It seems like `cc-bytecomp-defun' generates bad code. I'm not really
sure how it's supposed to work though. It might not even be worth the
effort avoid warnings in Emacs 19.
If you comment out the line that reads (cc-bytecomp-defun char-table-p)
in cc-vars.el, bootstrapping will work.
