Hi Miles,
Is there any particular reason you chose to give text-scale-adjust the
unusual behavior it has, where its behavior depends on the last key
typed? I'm thinking it might be cleaner to split it into separate
commands text-scale-increase, text-scale-decrease, etc., and rebind the
keys accordingly.

Okay, never mind, I figured it out: it's to allow the user to do C-x C-=
C-= C-= and so forth.
