Hi,

when using "C-u 99 % R" in dired-mode to rename multiple files, Emacs interactively asks for each file to rename, but the cursor stays at the first match.

Here's the part of the standard report (GNU Emacs for Windows/X):
This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English if possible, because the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing list,
and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug. If you can, give
a recipe starting from `emacs -Q':

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
For information about debugging Emacs, please read the file
c:/Programme/emacs-23.2/etc/DEBUG.

Yes, I think it would be nice if Emacs showed where we were in the list
of files when doing this. This should now be fixed in Emacs 28.

It's perhaps a somewhat controversial change -- people used to point
staying where it was may protest, and in that case, I think we should
revert it.
