   We might use the trunk to make Emacs 22.2.  But these changes I'd
   rather not put into 22.2.

i would rather not check it into any particular branch.  doing so makes
it easy to forget about.  instead, i'll keep polishing the changes until
the time when they will be acceptable fir installation on the trunk.

could you tell me what you had in mind wrt further polishing?
