It indeed does not matter when the heap size is small. However, memory usage tends to grow over time. My Emacs instance currently uses 976Mb memory with 463MB in lisp objects and 25.8MB in buffers. The extra non-lisp object size is almost same with the lisp object size (487.2MB).
