Hi all,
Emacs -Q
C-h f comment-beginning fails
with message: [no match]
whereas comment-beginning is present in newcomment.el
in contrast
C-h f comment-dwim displays documentation as expected.
Can't see a reason.
Thanks
Andreas Röhler

The reason is that comment-dwim is autoloaded, while comment-beginning
is not. And that's probably reasonable, given that comment-beginning
is not interactive.

Hmm, thanks.
Thought to call it from a program...
It works, if newcomment.el is explicitly loaded
(again). Which doesn't look clever OTOH.

No, but you could (and should) just (require 'newcomment) in your
program.

You need to call comment-normalize-vars first anyway.
Stefan
PS: Fell free to lobby for newcomment.el to be preloaded, tho.

Thanks. I'll make up a new thread `sh-script beg-end of
function' with the code employed now.
