Subject: bug#6291: 24.0.50; view-lossage cut off after password entry
Date: Fri, 28 May 2010 13:25:38 +0800	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87aarkha25.fsf@jidanni.org> (raw)

Do
$ emacs -Q -f shell
$ echo -n Password:; read
Password: ...
C-h l
upon which we see the view-lossage record is truncated.
Why can't you just put a "[PASSWORD]" marker in there? Why do you have to wipe everything out?
Also the view-lossage docstring doesn't say what is going on.
emacs-version "24.0.50.1" Debian package 1:20100524-1.
