Could we use the singular "mouse" instead of "mice" in the @node name? For example, by naming it "Mouse input" or "Mouse events" or similar. I believe that change might make it more immediately obvious to non-native speakers of English. (I usually only have one "mouse" on any given machine, while having several "mice" sounds a bit unusual, to say the least.) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

Your attribution is wrong: I didn't write that text. You should ask Lars, not me. (And "Mouse Events" is not a good idea for an introductory section.) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

If I then wouldn't find an entry it wouldn't come to my mind to search for "mice" (perhaps because I'm not a native speaker of English). ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

That's not relevant to the issue at hand, because the index entries in that section says "mouse", not "mice". You aren't supposed to search Info manuals by using the section names. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

No, it doesn't. But it also doesn't mean that section headings should be written considering just the possibility that users will search for them. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

Yeah, I had "Mouse Buttons" first, but that was already taken, so I thought about "Mouse Events", and that sounded too nerdy for the Emacs manual, and then I saw that the node about keyboard events was called "Keys", so it ended up as "Mice". But it's not ideal from a grokabolity standpoint, so I've now changed it to "Mouse Input". Feel free to change further. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread
