X-Spam-Level:
X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests=none autolearn=no version=2.63
Symptoms:
Something is broken in compile mode so that highlighting doesn't
work correctly. For instance, doing grep on, say, "progr" gives the
following sample output:
grep -nH -e progr *tex
computation.tex:547:\label{def-^[[01;31mprogr^[[00mam-complete}
computation.tex:555:\^[[01;31mprogr^[[00mamcomplete{P}
Instead of highlighting, it shows ESC-sequences ^[[01;31 .... ^[[00
If emacs crashed, and you have the emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
`bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
/home/users/kifer/gnu/emacs/etc/DEBUG for instructions.

I can't reproduce this in either X, xterm, or a text terminal.
Probably what is happening here is that the user is using a terminal
that is unable to handle colors, but the termcap entry thinks it can.
