Hello,

Emacs doesn't handle fontconfig font names right, e.g.

emacs -fn "DejaVu Sans Mono:embolden=true:rgba=none:antialias=false"

all extra parameters are ignored.

`font-spec' parses the string right, but it seems the information is
lost in `list-fonts'.  Besides Emacs uses antialiased (and no subpixel
rendering) fonts no matter what I put in my ~/.fonts.conf.  Well, I
don't quite understand this cryptic file but `xterm -fa "..."' is doing
what I expect (with the attached fonts.conf file I get subpixel
rendering in a xterm but not in Emacs).

Currently, the fontconfig parameters Emacs understand are
restricted.   As soon as the current code get stable, I'll
make Emacs to pass all specified parameters to the
fontconfig library.
