I'm not sure about mw.el, but Emacs could benefit from a client of the
MediaWiki API. My own mediawiki-el could (it has some bugs that need to
be address, and it needs to be updated for the Login API) be used to
edit MediaWiki sites (including Wikipedia) from within emacs.
There are Org Export methods that allow you to transform org files into
Wikitext and, using the MW API, you could use the export to set up
MediaWiki as a readable copy of your org files. Or, you could edit MW
pages using the Org syntax in emacs, using the MW API to publish them to
the wiki.
