regexp for balanced square brackets

regexp for balanced square brackets

Hi.

Does somebody knows how to make a regexp such that [..], [...[...]..],
[...[.[..].]..] matches? It would be nice if any number of internal [..]
work and "dot" means any characters in a certain set.

No.  But some people know how to prove that a regexp won't cut it,
ever (some Perl extensions to regexps can do, IIRC).

If you want to do this in Emacs, maybe you should just write the
structure you want as a Lisp expression, and just have Elisp parse
it. (It's kind of hard to tell without knowing what you are trying to
do, however.)
