Subject: bug#27357: 26.0.50; Emacs starts fullscreen in Ubuntu 17.04
Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2017 18:11:41 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <877ez8tl8i.fsf@mouse> (raw)

What I said about the screenshots wasn't totally accurate.

Here's -Q:

[-- Attachment #2: emacs-q.png --]
[-- Type: image/png, Size: 60972 bytes --]

[-- Attachment #3: Type: text/plain, Size: 22 bytes --]

Here's GDK_SCALE=1:

[-- Attachment #4: emacs-q-1.png --]
[-- Type: image/png, Size: 49658 bytes --]

[-- Attachment #5: Type: text/plain, Size: 63 bytes --]

As you can see, the toolbar icons are smaller.

GDK_SCALE=2:

[-- Attachment #6: emacs-q-2.png --]
[-- Type: image/png, Size: 68710 bytes --]

[-- Attachment #7: Type: text/plain, Size: 388 bytes --]

It's identical to just "-Q", which is to be expected, since the default
scale is 2. Except that the menu texts are twice as large, which is not
expected.

So the menu bar font thing is somehow relying on the environment
variable, even if there are no checks for it any more? Urr.
