It matters to other people if you want them to use your
software, they are much more unlikely to read your post here
or find it randomly on the EmacsWiki and install it manually,
than if it is a repository package ready to be installed using
an interface for that purpose that they already know.
But for the record I'm probably even worse than you in this
respect, I have 196 files of Elisp, 10 980 sloc, and only made
a single package for GNU ELPA of all of that. And never added
anything to the EmacsWiki :$
Not saying all of that is useful to anyone else or even me, of
course, but I think maybe I could and should make two or three
more packages for the repos of the stuff I'm most happy with.
[Just difficult to figure out what that is, exactly? I don't
even know what parts I myself use since I just use it without
thinking by now.]
And I think it is a good idea for you as well, so other people
can benefit from what you have created.
