In the end it's Bastiens decision how to name the releases and so far
he's preferred suffixes instead of going past 9.  But would you be
interested in an extended version-to-list to properly deal with the
general format of "git describe"?  It would probably help a lot with
getting rid of the nonsense that MELPA is doing to package versions.
