Oh dear. I thought I had completed the move to an external ages ago, but
you are correct, I hadn't finished.

We discussed this a while back; the ELPA master branch workflow does not
work for me terribly well, as I end up with a large repo with many
files in my emacs devel space. I sync all of my machines with unison,
and this adds considerably to the sync time which is irritating when I
only need a couple of 20k files from that space. As an external, I can
checkout a single branch, problem goes away (at least that was the
plan -- it hasn't quite worked out).

I know I should not re-iterate the argument but for me the MELPA
workflow of maintaining a repo of metadata and distributing the source
works much more cleanly. Now that I have re-iterated it, I promise not
to contribute to another big thread defending my position.

Phil
