Why would you do that? It's so much easier and faster to just do C-x C-f /ssh:user@hostname.netword:myfile.c RET and you don't even need an Emacs on the other end of the connection. Similarly for editing things like C-x C-f /sudo::/etc/fstab RET -- David Kastrup
